              Captains: John S. Wheeler resigned, A.J. Foster promoted from 1st lieutenant, Robert G. Fleming severely wounded near Petersburg, May 20, 1864, and resigned or discharged, W. Alexander Benson killed in trenches in front of Petersburg and George B. Lake appointed after death of Benson, covered up  by mine explosion at Petersburg.

             1st Lieutenants: Peyton Ballenger commanded for thirteen months, J. Smiley Wheeler killed at Jackson, Mississippi.

             2nd Lieutenants: Dillingham Ballenger died in Charleston, 1863, R.V. Hastings died in hospital Savannah, GA, Wm.J. Lake covered up by mine explosion at Petersburg, hip fractured, dug out alive.

            Sergeants: J.M. James wounded in Va, leg amputated, B.K. Vaughn, Alberry Ballenger, discharged, R.M. Reese died of disease, I.S. Morgan killed by mine explosion, J. Ross Mason and J.M. McCue died during war.

He was appointed Corporal 4th class on 8 Dec 1863, noted as deserted in Brandiville SC on May 17, 1863, was present Jan and Feb of 1864, Present Feb 29 to June 30, 1864, admitted to Jackson Hospital, transferred July 8.
