MR. ALLAN MOTES, who died at Laurens, S.C., in April, 1908, was 95 years of age, and among his papers was found proof of his enlistment in the Confederate army at the age of 50 years. When he volunteered for service in 1862, he was assigned to Company B, 9th Regiment, 1st Corps, South Carolina Reserves.
