The Hammett Family Cemetery is located on private property in Spartanburg County, SC on Neal Road, a short dead-end road off of Hammett Grove Road. It contains 20+ graves, dated between 1849 and 1915, and is maintained by The Hammett Reunion Committee.

Location (GPS): 34 66.733 N, 081 46.200 W

The Hammett Family cemetery is located on land once owned by Charles Brookings Hammett and his decendents. Little is known about the origins of Charles B. Hammett, who seemingly appeared from nowhere to own several hundred acres, including farm land, two gold mines and a mill. Sarah H. Hammett, buried in the cemetery, is possibly his mother or an older sister, since she was 18 years old when he was born.

Tombstones identify the following people:

One broken headstone is not listed, and there are many graves marked with uncarved fieldstones. I was told by an older member of the family that the graves marked with fieldstones were those of field hands.

Visitors should get permission of Mr. Stapleton, the property owner, to visit the cemetery. He lives in the mobile home next to the cemetery.
